Usage Tips

For OUR RECIPE you will need …

1 sachet Schwartz Somerset Pork Casserole Recipe Mix
1 tbs oil
450g (1lb) lean pork, cubed
1 large onion, diced
300ml (½ pint) cold water
1 apple, cored and sliced

Directions …

1.  Pre-heat oven to 190°C, 375°F, Gas Mark 5.   

2.  Heat oil, fry pork and onion for 3-4 minutes.  Transfer to a casserole dish. 

3.  Mix sachet contents with water and add to casserole dish.  Cover and cook for 1 hour or until meat is tender, adding the apple for the last 30 minutes.

4.  Serve with sautéed potatoes.

Hints & Tips …

Also delicious with pork chops or skinless chicken breasts, drumsticks or thighs.  Why not try adding sliced celery with the apple, or replacing the water with cider.

Additional Usage

Microwave directions for 800W:  Place meat and onion in a microwaveable dish.  Blend sachet contents into water.  Pour over pork.  Cover and cook on full power for 12 minutes, stirring occasionally.  Stir in apple, cover and cook on full power for 4 minutes or until meat is tender, stirring occasionally.

Slow Cooker directions:  Place pork, onions and apple in the cooker.  Blend the sachet mix with the water and add to the cooker and mix through.

Cook to your Slow Cooker instructions.

Freezing Guidelines

This finished recipe is suitable for freezing.  Transfer the cooked recipe to an airtight container, leave to cool prior to sealing.  For best results use within 1 month of freezing. 

Re-heating Guidelines

Defrost thoroughly overnight in a refrigerator.  Transfer to a saucepan and heat gently over a medium-heat, stirring occasionally, until piping hot throughout.  Alternatively, place in a microwaveable bowl, cover loosely with cling film and re-heat in the microwave (800W) on full power for 6 minutes, stirring half-way through, or until piping hot throughout.
