Homemade Mincemeat
Ingredients

100 gram (4 ounce) cooking apples, peeled and grated

2 oranges

2 lemons

250 gram (10 ounce) currents

350 gram (12 ounce) sultanas

225 gram (8 ounce) raisins

100 gram (4 ounce) pitted dates, chopped

175 gram (6 ounce) soft dark brown sugar

225 gram (8 ounce) shredded suet

1/2 teaspoon Ground Ginger

1 teaspoon Mixed Spice

3 tablespoons rum

Instructions
- 1 Place apples, orange and lemon zest and juice in a large bowl with the remaining ingredients. Mix them together thoroughly, cover the bowl and leave it to stand overnight.
- 2 Spoon the mixture into clean jars. Seal the jars tightly using screw or twist-on lids or cellophane jampot covers. Label and store in a cool place for at least two weeks before using.
